Public Restrooms

There has got to be a better way to enginneer public restrooms. If that is not the most uncomfortable situation a person has ever been in I don't know what is. Calling it a "rest" room is really irrelevent because I'm never at rest when I'm in there. First of all what you go in there for is very personal regardless if its #1 or #2, or in a women's case #3 through #34. The amount of privacy the stalls give you is next to nothing. You might as well invite people to come in your stall and watch. You are entirely too close to another human being while you are handleing your business. Its very uncomfortable for the both of you. Most of the time this situation causes pee-shyness. That is when you know you have to use the bathroom but as soon as you get in there you are so nervous about performing in front of an audience your bladder just locks up. So you're stuck looking and sounding like an idiot you just came to the toilets for the view or the silence. Then once you feel that you can let it all out you're hesitant because the worst thing in the world is if you let out one of those accidental "Oh when did I have brocolli?" farts. You know the kind. The ones who seem like that got something to say so they say it loud and proud in the middle of a dead silent, but crowded, restroom. The best restroom I have ever been in are the ones in Marley Station Mall. The stalls go all the way down to the floor and about 2 feet away from the ceiling. They are made out of brick or cinderblocks which is about 6 or 8 inches thick. So there is plenty of privacy. No one can see your feet, let alone hear you pee. All restrooms should be like this. Along with including a radio with headphones so you don't have to be objected to others bodily functions and air freshener so you don't offend anyone with yours.

High School and Secrets

So you know how when things get really petty, immature, gossipy, sneaky, and just very annoying between people we always acuse them of "acting like they are in high school"? Well I'm really starting to not believe that phrase anymore. I'm 20 years old and I still acuse people of acting like they are in high school. I have come to think that they way we behaved in high school was just the start of how we were going to act for the rest of our lives. People are always going to be sneaky, petty, gossipy and we will label that behavior as being immature but it really isn't, in my opinion. Sometimes as adults we can look passed these behaviors in others and if we are really strong we change these behaviors in ourselves, but I'm sure it will take a long time.

My next point is about secrets. The purpose of a secret is really obsoulete if you ask me. In the majority of cases a secret will always get out. Unless the only person you have told your secret to is yourself it will rear its dirty, ugly head. Why do we keep secrets in the first place? The number one reason I would have to say is embarrassment or shame. We don't want other people a chance to judge us about the actions we've taken or the way we think. Basically what makes us who we are. The majority of things we keep a secret are things that define ourselves. I believe when people have secrets they aren't trying to keep them from other people as much as they are trying to keep it from themselves. In most cases I believe keeping a secret from someone is even more worst than telling them and being honest. Everyone deserves to have their own amount of privacy and everone is entitled to not reveal their entire personality if they don't want. I just think people should be a lot less shocked when their information is leaked out.
